Understanding Corporate Tax (2021)
🏛️ Standard CIT Rate
For the 2021 tax year (ending between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021), the standard Corporate Income Tax (CIT) rate for resident companies was 28%.
📉 Deductions & Allowances
Companies can deduct legitimate operating expenses incurred in the production of income.
- Capital Allowances: Wear and tear on assets used for trade.
- Donations: Section 18A donations are deductible (limited to 10% of taxable income).
- Assessed Losses: Can be carried forward to offset future taxable income (2021 rules allowed full offset against taxable income, subject to trade continuity).
📅 Provisional Tax
Companies must pay two provisional tax payments during the year (6 months and year-end) to avoid large liabilities on assessment. A third optional top-up payment can be made 6 months after year-end (7 months if Feb year-end).
Disclaimer: This calculator uses the 2021 tax year rules (28% Corporate Rate). Specific complex scenarios (Small Business Corporations, Micro Businesses, Special Economic Zones) are not covered in this standard calculator. Always consult a qualified tax practitioner.
